6 to 10 pm with the Humanist Union of Madison and the Doubters of FUS at the First Unitarian Society Lower Meeting House Fellow humanists and freethinkers, at last we have our own holiday, one not grounded in supernatural religious beliefs that many people in modern society cannot accept. HumanLight presents an alternative reason to celebrate: a Humanist vision of a good future. It is a future in which all people can identify with one another, care for each other, behave with the highest moral standards, and work together toward a happy, just and peaceful world. (See www.humanlight.org for more information about the holiday.) To celebrate HumanLight, please use the form below to email us your reservations and join us December 23 in the Lower Meeting House of First Unitarian Society in Madison, Wisconsin. We’ll begin with a potluck dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a fun program, including singing humanist-friendly songs, and much more. However, space is limited, so please indicate via the RSVP Form below (1) how many adults/children (and ages of children) you plan to bring and your email address or phone number, and (2) what potluck dish you’ll bring. (Table at the bottom will show what others are bringing.) Also (3) please bring small votive candles (if you have them) for each person in your family attending (which we’ll use, but you’ll take back home), (4) a can of food for the needy (standard size can preferred for stacking cans in the shape of a holiday tree), (5) your own beverage to drink and/or share, (6) a used mug or mugs you can easily live without for our coffee mug exchange (the more amusing, strange, or retro the mug, the better), (7) $$ for a modest donation (to help us cover expenses), and most important of all, (8) yourself, your family, and your good cheer. |
